Monday, July 28th, 2008This has been a hot and dry summer in Greenville, and yet we have been blessed with four different bird nests in our front yard’s flora. Two sets of wrens have built their homes in the ferns from Abby and Lincoln’s wedding. Three small black eyes are visible in the wren picture. All three birds [...]
Summer Teaching Opportunities
Saturday, July 26th, 2008This past week I was reminded of both the joys reaped and energy required for teaching. New Beginnings, BJU’s conference for teachers, gave me four opportunities to encourage folks in K-12 education. There were four other occasions already scheduled making a total of eight. I want to try out the numbered list in Word Press, [...]
Happy Birthday Grandma Q!
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008Tuesday was Grandma Q’s birthday. Yeah! Yippeeeee! By the way, she made both Joyce’s wedding dress 29 years ago and Abby’s dress this year. She does great work!
Wilds 2
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008All right, as promised, about camp. I had a great time at the Wilds, meeting a lot of new people. My counselor, Megan, was awesome, although she had a cold all week and could barely talk. We had 10 girls, including Megan, in our cabin, which was called Mysteryland. I went with my friend Tori, [...]
29th Anniversary
Monday, July 21st, 2008On July 21, 1979, Joyce and I were married at Evangel Baptist Church in Dale City, Virginia by Pastor Richard Gelina. God has richly blessed us over the years! Yes, we have gained a few pounds and some gray hair along the way too. It may have been the four kids that did it to [...]
A Quick Trip
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008Auria needed to be at the Wilds on Monday. Joyce and I needed to get out of town for a while. Sounded like a perfect “excuse” for a quick trip! We took the opportunity! We took Auria and two of her friends to the Wilds Christian Camp in Rosman, NC. The three girls talked the whole [...]
WILDS
Sunday, July 13th, 2008This week I’m going to the WILDS, a Christian camp in North Carolina, about an hour and a half away. I’m really looking forward to it, and when I get back, I write another post about it, and hopefully get Dad to show me how to post pics. I also get to see Anthony who [...]
Joyce
Thursday, July 10th, 2008Many of you know that Joyce has had a reoccurance of cancer after being cancer free for ten years. At her yearly physical just after Abby’s wedding, the doctor wanted her to have a chest x-ray due to a cough that had persisted for a few weeks. One test led to another and eventually to the [...]
Playing Softball
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008Both Abby abd Auria played softball for the Press-Library team in the BJU summer league. Abby played various infield positions. Auria pitched for a couple of games. Joyce and I enjoyed going to see them on Monday evenings. The team did not win a game but definitely improved through the season.
Cookies
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008My Father’s Day present to Dad was a promise to make a batch of cookies any time he wanted. (1 time only) So, I made them today on his request. They were oatmeal raisin, and as far as I can tell, he approves. He also told me I needed to make a post, so here [...]
