Playing Softball

By Doug | July 8, 2008

Both Abby abd Auria played softball for the Press-Library team in the BJU summer league. Abby played various infield positions. Auria pitched for a couple of games. Joyce and I enjoyed going to see them on Monday evenings. The team did not win a game but definitely improved through the season.

I also played third base, first base, and occasionally second or shortstop. I got moved around a lot, depending on who was there that day.

Duncan also played softball on Monday nights this summer, but for the men’s library team. It was fun to go visit the Garlands and watch the ladies’ team every once in a while :D .

    Auria,
You are going to be in trouble if they want you to pitch and catch in the same inning. What’s position do you play best at?? That’s where you should be playing.

Well, I like first the best, and I probably am the best at it, but I was also of the only three that could throw from third to first. And, some of the games there wasn’t any other pitcher, so I had to do it. (I don’t like pitching, even if I’m semi-good at it) But, it was fun being moved around and I got a lot more experience that way. I really liked the BJ league that I was on, because it was much more relaxed, and I didn’t have to play right field all the time!

If you like touching the ball, then catching, pitching and 1st base are the best positions to play. The other positions can get boring during a game if the pitcher is good and the other team can’t hit.
