OK-I Hear You!

By Doug | July 17, 2009

Family and Friends,

Many have asked when we were going to post something to our family blog. Six months or so is probably too long to ignore it…

Let me give you an update on the Garland clan.

Doug is in the summer break from school. I am working at BJU as the project manager for BJU Online, which is a new distance education initiative. I enjoy interacting with the people involved in the project. A new web site will be launched toward the end of August that will have information about classes, schedules, tuition, and the other details of academia.

Joyce is on the middle of round two of a total of six chemotherapy treatments for a reoccurrence of cancer. The next treatment is on July 22. She is working some and feeling fairly good on most days. The days immediately following treatments can be rough. Thank you for praying!

Andrew and Melanie are also enjoying the summer break. Actually, Mel is doing a practicum and looks forward to graduation in December. Andrew works for Volvo International as a computer consultant and looks forward to being a graduate student at Virginia Tech in the fall.

Abby and Lincoln recently moved to Waltham, Mass so that Lincoln can pursue a doctorate in history from Brandeis University.  They are currently enjoying setting up housekeeping and seeing the sights in the Boston area.

Anthony is working at the Wilds Christian Camp in Brevard, NC this summer. He stays very busy keeping up with his campers. He will come home on Saturday evening for about 24 hours or so. Chances are that he will need to sleep as much as he can to get recharged for the next week. Camp work is rigorous!

Auria finished two semesters of Biology in summer school. Her hard work paid off with very good grades! She is being a big help around the house. She and I went bowling today. I won’t tell you who got the highest score. :)

Many have asked about the house project. We got final inspection this week! Moving date is probably a couple of weeks away. Actually, we will start moving boxes and other small things tomorrow. The house is very nice and we praise the Lord for His goodness to us through it. I will post some interior pictures of the house this weekend. Once we move, we will need to get our current house painted and carpeted before putting it on the market. Know anybody who needs a house in Greenvlle? Send them our way!

Let us know how you are doing!
